UseCase » Sensor data services
Some input data are sensor data, delivered by sensor data services. The main input for hydrological model (Ms2) is the precipitation time series from the meteorological sensors. (However, a simulated precipitation time series can also be taken into account.) The quality of the calibration of the user input parameters is better if the precipitation data are available for several years before the date at which the results are required. Thus the hydrological model (Ms2) takes account of the evolutions in time of rainfall. The results can also be expressed as a function of time.
On the contrary, the other models (Ms1, Ms3, Ms4, Ms5) do not take the evolutions of the input data in time. Their results correspond to a situation at a given time. If results at different times are required, for example result maps at day D and day D+1, then the models have to be run two times with the input data corresponding to day D and day D+1.
RD23 sensors:
Various sensors are operating near this road:
- Two weather sensor systems
- One piezometric sensor system
- One flowmeter sensor system
The weather sensor systems, managed by Météo France, are able to measure precipitation and soil humidity. Moreover, one of the two weather sensor systems can measure wind speed, wind direction and wind variation over a period of time. Sensor data acquisition procedures are automated.
The piezometric sensor system is used for underground water level monitoring. The flowmeter sensor system is used for river flow measurements located near the RD 23.
For now, sensor data acquisition procedures for these two sensor systems are not yet automated.
The following table summarizes our available sensor data.
| Phenomenon | Units of measure | Frequency | Sensor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Precipitation | mm | 6min or 60min | Weather Station |
| Humidity | % | 6min or 60min | Weather Station |
| Wind speed | m/s | 6min or 60min | Weather Station |
| Wind direction | ° | 6min or 60min | Weather Station |
| Wind variation | ° | 60 min | Weather Station |
| Underground water level | m | Piezometer | |
| River flow | m^3/s | Flow Meter |
